We’ve heard the tinny adverts on the radio, we’ve walked past their big warehouses with shouty posters offering 50% off. We’ve seen their prime-time television adverts endorsed by TV property guru’s.
What is the difference between us and them? And when we say them, we are of course referring to the national chains of big, shed kitchen sellers.
We believe there are lots of differences, some big, some small when you opt for a small local showroom to design and fit your dream kitchen/pantry/boot-room. Read on to hear more…
Houses are a bit like bodies. They come in all shapes and sizes. So, it can be frustrating to have spent an age on Pinterest and Insta, collating images of your fave kitchens to be told that it isn’t possible as your room isn’t quite square enough or the right size. Bespoke kitchens are all about creating something tailored to exactly suit your needs. The results are never the same, but they are always beautiful. What we will never do is present you with a choice of 3 one-size-fits all island options for example. And apparently, that is a thing!
The beauty of bespoke kitchen design is the lack of limitations, resulting in a kitchen that can be as expensive or as budget friendly as you require. If we think a cabinet that is 20mm narrower will make all the difference to the appearance or the functionality of your kitchen, then we will make that happen. We can bespoke cabinetry and doors to make sure that you get a design that works for you and the shape of your room, not just an off-the-peg offering. But that must cost a fortune you say! Well actually no. As a brief example, adjusting a larder cabinet so it is shallower than standard 560 deep would cost around a mere extra £24. If you want a butler sink in your handless rail kitchen, be-spoking the doors, depending on the style would cost on average £30-40 more per door from our simply Burbidge range. It is unlikely with most kitchens that you will have to bespoke everything, but just having that ability to make the kitchen design much more flexible is very valuable indeed and helps our customers achieve the outcomes they dream of without a nightmare price tag.
Project management and installation
We believe there are some definite pro’s to using our services when it comes to installation. Our fitters know our products. They have between them 30 years’ experience in the field, and nothing phases them. Angled islands, low cottage ceilings peppered with beams, you name it, they’ve fitted around it. They are provided with detailed fitting packs that leave nothing to chance and have a direct contact number to speak with the designer whenever necessary.
If the prospect of arranging all the trades, plumbers, electricians, plasterers is a bit daunting then leave that to us. We can ensure that everything is done at the right time and to the right finish with our teams of trusted local trades.
One of the main misconceptions is that we would be more expensive than a chain. This just is not the case. We operate on smaller margins and have built good relationships with our suppliers that allow us to be 100% competitive on a like for like product.
We operate as a family-owned business taking pride in the design, product, and service we offer. There are no salespeople in the business, just a small team with a strong background in design and a desire to create beautiful spaces. There is no pressure to buy, we give you the space and time to make the right decisions.
We operate completely to your budget, there are no dodgy sales tactics to persuade you to take up confusing finance deals and our clear pricing policy is always best price first. This means we are very much competitive with the big chains, and you benefit from transparency with costs from start to finish. We would also never artificially inflate our prices for a short while so that we can advertise kitchens at 50% off ‘clear-out’ prices. Sound familiar?
This does not mean that you will miss out on good deals. The beauty of being small is that we have close working partnerships with the big brands like Quooker, so you will find at times amazing offers like a free Quooker tap when you spend over £20,000 on your kitchen.
Reputation/Word of mouth
As a small company with one showroom, you can guarantee that our face-book reviews and the reviews on our website are from people in the area and word travels fast! Much of our business comes from recommendations and this is something we take pride in. Take a look at our reviews and see what your neighbours are saying!
One-to-one appointments in our lovely showroom mean you won’t be jostling for time or attention. It is your space to explore, sit and relax and chat over your design with your dedicated designer who will work with you from start to finish. No call centres, no hold music. There will always be someone who can take your query without going through 10 options on the phone keypad. And once your dream kitchen is installed the service doesn’t stop there. We are on hand with advice and support, with aftercare, registering your appliances and getting to know your new kitchen.
We operate within a 30-mile radius around the small bustling Market town of Daventry. We sponsor local sports venues and teams and are proud members of visit Daventry, a shop local initiative. One of our main suppliers is a 100-year-old family-owned company based just 14 miles away guaranteeing that you really are shopping local if you opt for a stunning kitchen from our Burbidge range.
We work with local builders – giving them the same service that we give to all our clients.
We use fitters that live in the area and are knowledgeable of the locality and housing stock, ensuring that you really are supporting the local economy.
So, if you have a project in mind, be it a kitchen, utility, boot room, home office or bedroom, then why not give us a call and book in for that one-to-one appointment and see for yourself what we can offer.
